The tennis bracelet is one of those pieces that just works. A single line of stones, a slim silver band, and suddenly every outfit looks a bit more put together. If you've been thinking about getting one (or adding another to your stack), here's everything you need to know, plus the sterling silver tennis bracelets we have in at The Nook right now.
What is a tennis bracelet?
A tennis bracelet is a flexible bracelet set with a continuous row of evenly spaced stones that go all the way around the wrist. No big centrepiece, no charms. Just unbroken sparkle.
The name comes from the 1978 US Open, when Chris Evert's diamond line bracelet came loose mid-match and she stopped play to find it. Ever since, the "line bracelet" has been known as the tennis bracelet.

Why sterling silver?
- Affordable everyday luxury ā all the sparkle without fine-jewellery prices
- Hard-wearing ā 925 sterling silver is made to be worn, not kept in a box
- Easy to stack ā sits nicely with silver watches, bangles and chain bracelets
- Cool-toned shine ā suits clear and coloured stones equally well
How to choose the right tennis bracelet
- Get the length right ā measure your wrist and add about 1ā2cm for a comfortable fit. Most of ours are 6ā7 inches (15ā18cm).
- Pick your stone ā clear stones for a classic look, coloured stones or onyx if you want something a bit different.
- New or vintage? ā vintage pieces have character and are often one-offs, so if you love one, don't wait.
- Check the clasp ā a secure clasp (like a fold-over clasp) means less chance of an Evert moment.
